Clearfield Resident Places 3rd in National Senior Queens Tournament

Jackie Reed of Clearfield recently placed 3rd in the USBC Senior Queens Tournament held in conjunction with the Women’s National USBC Tournament in Reno, NV. While bowling in the regular tournament consisting of 9 total games, Jackie entered the Senior Queens tournament. The Queens tournament started   April 25th, with the field of 141 female bowlers from around the world, bowling 5 qualifying games. On April 26th the entire field returns to bowl another 5 games with the top 50 returning on the 27th for 5 more games. This narrowed the field to 31 plus last year’s champion, Sandra
Postma
. The same evening, Jackie who was ranked 4th overall, bowled 2 three game matches. The tournament is now a double elimination tournament. A win moves a bowler through the “Winners” bracket while a loss moves a bowler to the “Contenders” bracket. On the 28th Jackie bowled 3 three game matches, taking her first loss on the third series to the eventual winner, Janine Primrose. She then had to meet Miller-Mackie in a 3 game series to either advance or go home the 3rd place winner. In Jackie’s own words, Miller-Mackie “who beat me soundly” won that series. In a scenario almost unheard of outside of the Pro Tour Jackie bowled 42 games in 6 days averaging 198 during qualifying and 183 in match play.
